Our First Built by RTR - 2021 Mustang RTR Spec 2
We recently launched our Built by RTR program, which allows you to have your very own Ford Mustang, Bronco, Bronco Sport, or Ranger Built by RTR! With this program, we can take your current or previous model year Ford vehicle and build it into your very own RTR Vehicle. Tina was our first Built by RTR customer since officially launching. She sent her 2021 Mustang GT to the RTR Lab all the way from Texas to be built as a Mustang RTR Spec 2. Not only did we build her dream car, she also got the experience of a lifetime and took delivery of her vehicle at the RTR Lab. As soon as Tina’s Mustang arrived at the RTR Lab, we performed a full inspection of the vehicle. After the inspection was complete, we detailed her Mustang and brought it inside to start the build process.
The first thing to be removed was the front bumper to install the RTR Upper Grille w/ LED Lighting, Lower Grille, Bumper Inserts / Turning Vanes and Front Splitter.
It’s time to install the remaining exterior components! Moving around to the rear of the Mustang, we removed the factory rear decklid to replace it with our RTR Decklid Panel. Our engineers 3D printed a template that makes installing the RTR emblem on the rear decklid a breeze. The 3D printed template is placed inside the hole where the reverse camera would go to ensure precise fitment on every RTR Decklid Panel.
Next up is the RTR Rear Spoiler! Tina’s Mustang didn’t have a rear spoiler so we had to drill some holes in her trunk lid for the RTR Rear Spoiler. After the holes were drilled, the spoiler was installed and finished off the overall look of the Mustang RTR Spec 2.
To finish off all the exterior components, the RTR Rear Diffusers, Side Splitters and Rear Quarter Splitters will go on. The RTR Rear Diffusers require some cutting of the factory rear diffuser to install our components. Our RTR Technician has installed several of these already, so this set was a breeze to install.
While the Mustang is still on the lift, it’s time to install the RTR Tactical Suspension Components. Each Mustang RTR Spec 2 receives a set of RTR Tactical Performance Lowering Springs, Adjustable Shocks / Struts and Front / Rear Sway Bars. With the RTR Tactical Performance Lowering Springs, the Mustang will get a 1.1-inch drop in the front and a 0.8-inch drop in the rear.
Tina opted for the optional RTR Aero 7 Wheels so we mounted a fresh set of Nitto NT555 G2’s on her wheels so we can install them and get her Spec 2 off the lift for the installation of its RTR Graphics Package. Each RTR Wheel & Tire Package gets a fresh set of TPMS sensors, valve stems and is mounted / balanced.
The RTR Graphics and badging is the final piece of the puzzle. With the Mustang RTR Spec 2 down on the ground, it’s time to install the graphics. The graphics are applied to the hood and side graphic that follows the Mustang’s body lines from the front fender all the way to the trunk lid.
We completely transformed Tina’s Mustang from stock to Ready to Rock in just 2 days. She decided to take advantage of our RTR Lab Delivery and come to the Lab to take delivery of her Mustang instead of having it shipped back home to Texas.
Let’s fast forward to delivery day! Tina arrived at the Lab and Vaughn was here to personally unveil her Mustang RTR Spec 2 and give her a walkaround of her new Mustang.
As an added bonus Tina's husband reached out to our team and wanted to have us help him with a surprise since it was Tina’s birthday. With him being overseas, he unfortunately couldn’t be there at the time of delivery but we helped pull everything together. Her husband sent us a video to play for Tina when she was at the Lab along with some flowers and a cake made just for her.
After Tina took delivery of her car, Vaughn hopped in the Mustang with her and went around back to the skidpad to break in her Mustang the right way!
