Mustang Touge Battle
Vaughn Gittin Jr. and Chelsea DeNofa unleashed their RTR Spec 5-D Mustangs, on the scenic roads of Wilkesboro, North Carolina for Mustang Touge! For those of you who aren’t familiar with the word touge, here is a quick definition: Touge (峠, tōge) the literal meaning is “pass.” It refers to a mountain pass or any of the narrow, winding roads that can be found in and around the mountains of Japan and other geographically similar areas around the world. The day started out by heading to Wilkesboro, NC. which is about an hour and a half north of Charlotte. Once we arrived at our staging location, the vehicles were unloaded and everyone was assembled to go over the game plan for the production.
Vaughn and Chelsea’s RTR Spec 5-D Mustangs and camera car were outfitted with camera equipment and prepped for the awesomeness that was about to go down.
The location where all of the action took place was a small scenic road nestled in the foothills of Wilkes county. It was barely wide enough for one car to go up and down it without having to pull off to the side and allow someone to pass by. Vaughn Gittin Jr. and Chelsea DeNofa hopped in their RTR Spec 5-D Mustangs and headed up to the shooting location, along with the rest of the crew.
Before all of the action shots were captured, Vaughn and Chelsea’s driver intros were shot. Each driver stood in front of their respective Mustang RTR Spec 5-D and showed off their signature move.
RTR Upper Grille LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION! Both Mustang RTR Spec 5-Ds were staged at the beginning of the road and ready for the first action shots.
If the smell of burnt Nitto G2 rubber and race fuel doesn’t get your blood pumping in the morning maybe the crisp morning air and mountain views will do the trick. Or a combination of both?
As the day progressed, the media team worked their way up the road capturing each section of action. Here are some of our favorite action shots from the day.
Towards the end of the shoot there was a short period of time where we were waiting for the sun to go down because it was causing the drivers to not be able to see. During that time, Vaughn brought out his Mustang RTR 10th Anniversary Spec 5 and Chelsea got in his Foxbody to make a couple of runs.
As if there wasn’t enough burnt rubber laid down on the street already, Vaughn laid down some 11’s before hopping back into his Mustang RTR Spec 5-D to finish out the shoot.
The final scene was captured and it was time to wrap up the shoot! Everyone headed back to the staging location and gathered for a group photo.
Thanks to everyone involved that made this day happen and run so smoothly! Here are a few images from the Mustang Touge shoot that can be downloaded for phone wallpapers.
