RTR Vehicles x BC Racing Project | #DadlyDriver Mustang RTR Spec 2

Over the years, we have had the opportunity to work on some specialty builds for some of the partners from our Motorsports Division. One of our most recent partner builds was for our good friends over at BC Racing! They decided to go with the RTR Ford Mustang Spec 2 Vehicle Package built from a 2021 Ford Mustang EcoBoost Hi-Po. One of the factors that helped make this decision was over the years BC Racing/RTR Vehicles drivers Chelsea DeNofa & Vaughn Gittin Jr. have proven the Ford Mustang to be the ULTIMATE drift chassis.

In case you missed it, we recently announced our Built by RTR program. This allows you to have your Ford Mustang, Bronco, Bronco Sport or Ranger built at our facility located in Charlotte, NC. for more info, click or tap, HERE.

ABOUT THE BUILD

As we mentioned before, the project started out with a brand new 2021 Ford Mustang EcoBoost Hi-Po in Oxford White. This build will be utilized in a campaign called #dadlydriver. BC wanted to showcase the versatility of the Mustang RTR Spec 2 Mustang by using it in everyday scenarios to full on drifting / track use. The hope is to persuade parents from purchasing a boring, “run of the mill” vehicle and opt for something you can drive everyday and still have fun! Cody from BC has already taken delivery of the Mustang RTR Spec 2 and has started to have some fun with it.

Typically the Mustang RTR Spec 2 is equipped with the Tactical Performance Lowering Springs and adjustable shocks/struts but we installed a set of BC Racing BR Series Coilovers instead. Below is a list of components that come with the Mustang RTR Spec 2 Package along with a few options that the team over at BC decided to opt for.

Mod List

  • BC Racing BR Coilover Suspension
  • RTR Upper Grille with LED Lights
  • RTR Lower Grille
  • RTR Front Chin Spoiler
  • RTR Bumper Inserts and Turning Vanes
  • RTR Hood Extractor Vents
  • RTR Rear Diffuser
  • RTR Rear Spoiler
  • RTR Decklid Panel
  • RTR Rocker Splitters
  • RTR Rear Quarter Splitters
  • RTR Fender Badges
  • RTR Floor Mats
  • RTR Shift Knob (Manual Transmission Only)
  • RTR Graphics
  • RTR Tactical Performance Front and Rear Sway Bars
  • RTR Tactical Performance Adjustable Shocks/Struts
  • RTR Serialized Dash Plaque Signed by Vaughn Gittin Jr.
  • Optional RTR Aero 7 Wheels in Matte Graphite w/ Nitto NT555 G2 Ultra-High-Performance Tires (275/35R20)
  • Optional RTR Leather Seating

The Build Process

As with every vehicle that arrives at the RTR Lab, each vehicle is thoroughly inspected by a RTR Technician and detailed before it goes under the knife for modifications. Before it went inside, we wanted to grab a few shots of it to show what the Mustang looked like in stock form.

Exterior components were the first items to be installed, our RTR Technician removed the front bumper and started to install the RTR Chin Splitter, Bumper Vents, RTR Lower Grille and Signature RTR Upper Grille w/ LED Lights.

Moving to the rear of the Mustang, we installed the RTR Rear Diffuser, Rear Spoiler, and RTR Rear Decklid. The matte black accents pair perfectly with the Oxford White exterior paint and will really be brought all together when the RTR Graphics are installed.

Now it’s time for the factory suspension components to be removed and replaced with the BC Racing BR Series Coilovers and Tactical Performance Front & Rear Adjustable Sway Bars. All of these components are perfect, out of the box, for daily driving. If you want to go have some fun at the track, you have the ability to adjust your suspension settings on the fly.

After the suspension components were installed, we moved over to graphics installation, wheel/tire mounting and balancing and adding the RTR side emblems. A matte black RTR hood graphic and side graphic accentuates the Mustang’s body lines and tie in all of the other matte black RTR components that were installed. To set everything off, BC opted to go with our Matte Graphite Aero 7 Wheels wrapped in Nitto NT555 G2 tires.

Speaking of optional components, one other option BC wanted to have installed was the RTR Leather Interior Package. This Mustang came with factory cloth seats so we removed those and reskinned the factory seats with Black w/ Gray accent RTR Leather Interior Package.

After the build was completed, Vaughn Gittin Jr. wanted to break it in the right way! We took it out back to our skid pad at the RTR Lab to have some fun. Before it was filled with some Nitto Tire smoke, Vaughn added the finishing touch by applying the serialized interior plaque.
